I designed the logo and website for Vicar Street Books, a publishing platform launched by Harry Crosbie. The site showcases Crosbie’s literary work—including his latest title El Furtivo—with books available for online purchase. All author profits are donated to the Peter McVerry Trust, adding a meaningful social impact to the project.
As part of the brand identity, I adapted the existing Vicar Street icon to create a custom logo for Vicar Street Books—bridging the cultural legacy of the venue with its new literary focus. The updated design retains the recognisability and spirit of the original mark while introducing a refined, book-driven aesthetic.
I also customised an Art Deco typeface, inspired by the poster work of A.M. Cassandre, carefully adjusting the letterforms to align with the proportions and rhythm of the original Vicar Street typography. This ensured a cohesive visual relationship between the new identity and its parent brand.
The website design is clean, responsive, and user-friendly, providing easy access to book listings, event-related content, and background information on both the author and the venue. It functions as a vibrant digital space where literature, culture, and social good intersect.
As part of the identity work, I adapted the original Vicar Street logo to suit the new literary focus. This included designing a new static logo as well as an animated version, featuring one of the iconic women from the original mark reading a book—bringing a sense of story, character, and continuity to the new brand.
Stacked and alternative versions of the logo.
